As the aesthetics of the puppet took on a realistic quality, I chose velour to emulate giraffe fur. For the puppet to be unique, it was important for me to create my own textile design. I silk-screened spots using Procion MX dye-paste. Unlike pigment paste, which rests on the surface of the cloth, dye penetrate the fabric to create a more consistent texture. Giraffe spots come in many shades and shapes, however I chose a warm, friendly, brick-red colour for the rounded spots.
